The ODDH researchers present the report “Monitoring the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Portugal”.
This study involved the application of a holistic approach to monitoring the rights of persons with disabilities in Portugal, based on gathering information in three key areas:
a) individual experiences of people with disabilities;
b) systemic measures designed to protect and promote the rights of disabled people (laws, policies, programs);
c) social attitudes measures by the representations and media coverage of disability.
The analysis of these three areas offers elements for understanding forms and processes of discrimination experienced by persons with disabilities in Portugal. The study results supported the development of recommendations for action to be taken by organizations of persons with disabilities, governments and other actors, to combat discrimination based on disability.
