Civil Society Coordination Mechanism for the Conference of States Parties

The ninth Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will be held from Tuesday 14 Thursday 16 June 2016. Article 4.3 of the CRPD calls for States Parties to closely consult with and actively involve persons with disabilities through their representative organisations in the implementation of the CRPD and other decision-making processes concerning issues relating to their rights.

To ensure that States Parties uphold Article 4.3, the International Disability Alliance will host an open call for all interested civil society colleagues to discuss the formation of a civil society coordination mechanism that will promote and ensure the full and effective participation of persons with disabilities in formal and informal events occurring during the week of the Conference of States Parties. Please note down the date in your calendars!
