"A large number" of people with disabilities are deprived of basic rights

22-04-2016 | Oppose to a medical treatment or abortion. Manage heritage. Having an independent life. Get married. UN experts evaluated for the first time if fundamental rights of people with disabilities are respected in Portugal. Often they are not.

The final report of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on Portugal was released on Friday (22-04-2016). It includes recommendations resulting from an assessment at a time when it is explained, the "austerity measures" and cuts in resources affected from the education of children with disabilities, up to the level of life of families.
