The study was performed by a team of European researchers and analysed the Impact of Austerity Measures on the Rights of People with Disabilities in areas such as employment, independent living, education, health care and social support in six EU countries, including Portugal.
The study was commissioned by the European Consortium of Foundations on Human Rights and Disability. The research shows that reductions in spending on care and social services in some countries are resulting in a disproportionate increase in the number of people with disabilities without jobs, income support or basic services.
