08-09-2015 | The UN human rights committee published, on September 4, its concluding observations and recommendations on how the EU can promote and protect the rights of persons with disabilities in Europe in areas such as: freedom of movement, non-discrimination, independent living, education, employment, humanitarian aid and international cooperation, legal capacity, access to justice, liberty and security, health, participation in elections etc.

On 27-28 August the EU and the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will discuss how the EU has been implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. During this ‘dialogue meeting’, the UN Committee (composed of 18 independent experts from different parts of the world) and the EU delegation led by Michel Servoz will engage in a question and answer session.
The Disability and Human Rights Observatory (ODDH) in partnership with its Advisory Board prepared the ‘Parallel Report on the Monitoring of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Portugal’ which was submitted, in July 2015, to the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of the United Nations.
