On 29-30 March Portugal and the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities discussed how Portugal has been implementing the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. During this meeting, during the 15th Session of the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (29 March- 21 April 2016), the UN Committee (composed of 18 independent experts from different parts of the world) and the Portuguese delegation led by Ana Sofia Antunes, Secretary of State of Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities engaged in a question and answer session.
It will take place on March 29 at 17h a Research Seminar about Disability Studies promoted by ODDH.
The Portuguese Federation of Autism (FPDA) will organize on the April 1, the seminar "Autism Spectrum Disorders - Present and Future" in Lisbon (Rua Castilho, nº 14).
The European Commission launched a public consultation on the review of the European Disability Strategy 2010-2020 in order to assess its impact and to ensure EU policy remains tailored to the needs and rights of persons with disabilities.
The ninth Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will be held from Tuesday 14 Thursday 16 June 2016. Article 4.3 of the CRPD calls for States Parties to closely consult with and actively involve persons with disabilities through their representative organisations in the implementation of the CRPD and other decision-making processes concerning issues relating to their rights.
