Researchers are invited to submit abstracts for the 8th Annual ALTER Conference – “Histories, Practices and Policies of Disability: International, Comparative and Transdisciplinary Perspectives” which will take place in Cologne (Germany), in 5-6 September 2019.
The Disability and Human Rights Observatory (ODDH) held its III Meeting - Disability, Decent Work and Citizenship, on December 13, 2018, at the Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas (ISCSP), University of Lisbon. In this edition, held on the date of the twelfth anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, it was intended to promote broad reflection on disability, decent work and citizenship.
The Disability and Human Rights Observatory (Observatório da Deficiência e Direitos Humanos – ODDH) holds its III Meeting on december 13, 2018, at the Institute of Social and Political Sciences, University of Lisbon (ISCSP-ULisboa). On the occasion of the 12 anniversary of the adoption of United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), this Meeting is intended to promote a wider discussion on the development of human rights of persons with disabilities in Portugal, involving the disability movement, policy makers and researchers.
Nine members were elected to the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the period 2019-2020: nine women were elected for the first time and three men re-elected for a new term. These elections were held last June 12 at the 11th Session of the Conference of the States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, held in New York.
The International conference " Disability and self-determination: the challenge of independent life" will take place on June 19 at the Montepio Auditorium (Rua Áurea, n. 219, sixth floor) in Lisbon, with the participation of Adolf Ratzka, founder and director of the Institute on Independent Living (Sweden) and Kapka Panayotova, president of the European Network on Independent Living (ENIL).
